Here at Stonehammer Music we have a number of very experienced and friendly teachers, many of whom teach at schools and colleges in the local area. Lessons are tailored to suit individuals needs and cover a wide variety of musical styles. Many of our pupils choose to take graded music exams, and we can offer additional support in Music Theory and Composition for music students doing GCSE and A Level music.
All our teachers are DBS checked.
We currently provide tuition on Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano and Ukulele.

Meet the Teachers
Alasdair Sinclair, BMus(Hons) PGCE
Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Music Theory
A graduate of the University of Salford and Manchester Metropolitan University with over 15 years teaching experience in primary, secondary and private education, and has worked internationally as a music examiner for RSL Awards since 2016. Alasdair founded Stonehammer Music in January 2019 to provide a place of quality instrument tuition in his home town of Congleton.
Ian Holland
Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Music Production, Music Theory
Ian has over 18 years experience teaching guitar, bass and music production in high schools and colleges. He also has an excellent understanding of music theory and is a keen composer. He gigs and records regularly as well as working as a live sound engineer and running open mic nights across Cheshire and Staffordshire.
Olly Pinfold, BMus(Hons)
Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Music Theory
Since completing his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he majored in guitar performance and composition, Olly’s 1-1 lessons have become increasingly popular. He continues to work as a song writer and as a session musician in the studio and on the stage.
Gareth Price, BMus(Hons)

As a peripatetic teacher with over 10 years experience Gareth has guided many pupils through formal assessments up to grade 8, and has a 100% pass rate across all grades. He is an experienced session musician with many studio sessions under his belt, and continues to perform live on a regular basis.
Laura McCarthy
Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Bass
Laura has been teaching guitar and bass for more than 5 years. She teaches all ages but with more than ten years experience working in EYFS education she is particularly popular with younger students. Currently working towards her grade 8 certificate Laura draws inspiration for her lessons from a range of popular styles including rock, funk, blues and metal.
George Morrison, Bmus(Hons)
Piano, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Music Theory
A multi instrumentalist that graduated The University of Salford with a first class degree, George has been working in the music industry locally and internationally since 2015. During this time he has also worked with the charity Cre8, teaching music to people of all ages and ability.
Mike MacConnell
Drums
Mike’s charismatic teaching style is an inspiration for drummers of all ages and abilities. Over the past 30 years he has gigged extensively across the UK and he continues to perform regularly with The Four King Blues Band. He has recorded numerous sessions for TV and radio working at BBC Maida Vale, The John Peel Sessions and The Steve Lamacq Show.
